KendraSystem is the system that satisfies the requirement:
"I want what I want, when I want and I want to be able to pay for it!"
It is the aim of KendraInitiative to specify and create this KendraSystem. Think of KendraSystem as a conceptual idea (as is the Internet) comprised of every product/service in the content value chain interoperating. So, for starters KendraSystem would:
[There's 2 ways of writing this...]
- Enable all content consumers to:
- Browse and search the global content catalogue using the application of their choice.
- Pay for content using the payment system of their choice.
- Pay for content using the payment methodology of their choice.
- Enable all content owners to:
- Publish their content to the global content catalogue.
- Attach business rules to their content defining cost, methodology and context.
- Collect payment for content using the merchant system of their choice.
[or...]
- Enable any retrieval client to:
- Browse and search the total content catalogue.
- Pay for content using the payment system of their choice.
- Pay for content using the payment methodology of their choice.
- Enable any publishing client to:
- Place content into the total content catalogue.
- Attach business rules to their content defining cost, methodology and context.
- Collect payment for content using the merchant system of their choice.
- Enable payment service providers:
- To interoperate with all other payment service providers so that no matter which payment service provider the content consumer and content owner use money will get through.
Yes, this is all about common standards, interfaces and APIs on machine and human levels. But as we are seeing with KendraBase and SemanticWeb ideas machines and humans will be able to speak different languages and use different terminologies to describe the same stuff.
