[kSum] The Kendra Initiative - Media Addiction, LLC

Hi Daniel,

It was a great pleasure to meet you and the other members of the Kendra Initiative and learn more about the various perspectives regarding metadata standardization.  After all the discussions I truly believe your organization's membership will greatly benefit from our platform and tools.

If anyone needs additional information regarding TV-Anytime it can be located at http://www.tv-anytime.org.  The various Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) standards such as MPEG 7 & 21 may be referenced at http://www.mpeg.org

During our meeting I was requested by Bob Auger and many others to forward a copy of the Media Addiction PowerPoint presentation for reference.  I will shortly make these available via a URL reference.  In the interim if anyone would like a copy they may contact me directly.

I will also reference an overview of our call for beta implementation partners, which might have a vested interest in pursuing more in depth discussions regarding our solutions.

Please keep in mind that I am sensitive to the fact that the Kendra Initiative is a non profit organization and that you would ultimately like to see open source, royalty free solutions come to market.  Given our discussions during the Cross Media Summit it was suggested by Ron Eagle and others that perhaps Media Addiction could provide a limited version of our metadata registration software for free use by the user generated content community.  We will be reviewing this possibility and the potential impact on our business model over the next few weeks.  Once we have come to a decision I will let you and the other members know.  I will say it has been a strategy we have considered in the past.  You will see some additional slides in the PowerPoint, which discuss the P2P potential of our technologies for the benefit of the home and small publishers as well as the professional media companies.

I really appreciate the opportunity you and the other members provided.  I believe the Summit was extremely worthwhile and our collective efforts will yield many great developments for Internet users worldwide.

With may thanks and the very best regards,

Ed Bates
