[kNews] Your Content Metadata needed, Google sponsor...

Dear All,

Kendra goes full steam ahead...

1. Calling Content Owners: Your Metadata needed for Trial
2. Google and BCSWomen sponsor Media Industry Special Event at WWW2006
3. Cracking media presentations due for WWW2006
4. Beta Testers for Kendra Base needed
5. Sponsor Neil Harris to attend WWW2006

1. CALLING CONTENT OWNERS: YOUR METADATA NEEDED FOR TRIAL

Do you own your own content catalogue? Music? Films? Books? Images? Games?
Do you want to take part in a cutting edge trial? Kendra Base is now ready
for your content catalogue metadata. To take part in the Kendra Catalogue
Trial you will need to organise your catalogue metadata into a file (CSV or
Excel or equivalent).

This trial will show that we can interoperate catalogue databases from
different sources and make them appear as if they were just one big global
database. Also, the trial will show that the metadata cloud can be totally
distributed - so, come the full blown system, content catalogue owners can
decide where they want to host their content and so will be in much more
control of their content. We are doing this using Kendra Base - our
distributed semantic search and publish system prototype.

We are modelling and trialling an open marketplace for you to sell and
distribute your content. As you know, the goal is to build a system where
consumers will be able to easily search, find and buy your content from,
what appears to be, one global catalogue, using the
interface/browser/application of their choice. So, enabling any front-end
device/application to access any back-end content distribution system.

If you have a catalogue metadata then get in touch. Also see:

2. GOOGLE AND BCSWOMEN SPONSOR MEDIA INDUSTRY SPECIAL EVENT AT WWW2006

The Media Industry Special Event at WWW2006 is a go! Google and BCSWomen
have sponsored the event to the tune of 1000 GBP. However, we could still
do with some more funds in the kitty. So, if you'd like to join our current
sponsors in bringing together media and technology players, providing an
informal and relaxed space for mediatech collaboration then get in touch!

It's sure to be fun with a live Ceilidh band and local food. This is an
invite only event. But you don't have to be attending WWW2006 to get an
invite. So, let us know if you'll be in Edinburgh on Monday 22nd May and up
for a bit of a fling! See:

3. CRACKING MEDIA PRESENTATIONS DUE FOR WWW2006

We've got some cracking speakers lined up for WWW2006. Looks like we'll
really be breaking new ground. Just take a look at these few synopses and
you'll know what I mean:

Council

http://www2006.org/speakers/cohen_s/ - Scott Cohen - Orchard
http://www2006.org/speakers/harris_d/ - Daniel Harris - isn't he that
guy...?

http://www2006.org/speakers/jessop/ - Paul Jessop - IFPI
http://www2006.org/speakers/johnson/ - Candace Johnson - Astra
http://www2006.org/speakers/mccreery/ - Guy McCreery - Third Ear

Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances gotcha'd Rob Wells, Divisional
Director, New Media & Digital Services, Universal Music Group UK and he
regretfully wont be able to be with us at WWW2006. Howhatever, Guy McCreery
has picked up the batten without even a gulp or a sideways look. Thanks Guy
- you're a star!

4. BETA TESTERS FOR KENDRA BASE NEEDED

5. SPONSOR NEIL HARRIS TO ATTEND WWW2006

Neil Harris has been tirelessly working to get Kendra Base ready for the
WWW2006 demonstration. It would be great to have Neil at the conference but
we need funds for his travel, accommodation and conference entrance fee.
So, if your so inclined to help out with funds for Neil please get in
touch.

I'll be in Edinburgh for the whole week of WWW2006. So, if you're in town
give me a shout. If you've got any ideas on good places to see and dine
then let me know...

Out my window the sun is shining. What more do we need, eh? ;-)

Best Regards, Daniel
