Richard Stallman on DRM and Kendra
----------------------------------

Richard Stallman (founder of the GNU Project) receives kNews and sent me
his thoughts on the relationship between DRM and Kendra. For the purposes
of formulating a response to Richard I have published his comments on kFW.
I would like to invite you to make public comment on the kFW list - please,
not to me direct - remember, you must be subscribed first. You can see
Richard's text here:

http://www.kendra.org.uk/lists/archive/k-framework/msg00016.html

You can read Scott Pollard's response bringing clarity to the issues here:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/lists/archive/k-framework/msg00017.html

I do hope more people will follow Richard's example and say what they want
Kendra to be. It is only through gathering people's requirements and
talking through the issues that we will be able to create design
specifications that take us to implementation.

October meeting minutes go up
-----------------------------

Thanks to Gordon Ross for getting the meeting minutes together. They are
now live on the website. You can see his introductory post here:

Which contains a link to the minutes.

Speakers wanted everywhere
--------------------------

We are getting many requests for Kendra Participant speakers from event
organisers. If you are interested in talking about Kendra, your
relationship to it, reasons for being involved and I'm sure a bit of self
promotion too for good measure then please take a look at my post on kGen
here:

http://www.kendra.org.uk/lists/archive/k-general/msg00096.html
Please respond to kGen if you are interested or have any questions.
Remember, you must be subscribed first.

IP Multicasting conference endorsed by Kendra Initiative
--------------------------------------------------------

We've endorsed it and they want a Kendra speaker too. In their own
words...

"As a Kendra participant you're only all too aware about the pressure we're
all under to extract maximum value from existing customers and network
infrastructure. IP multicast has the potential to deliver new business and
consumer applications and this conference, Europe's first event to focus on
IP Multicast, will examine this potentially high growth market in detail.
Speakers include Peggy Miles, President of Intervox Communications, Marcus
Bicknell, former Managing Director of CMGi Europe, and Marshall Eubanks,
CEO of Multicast Technologies."
