Dear All,
I've got a sneaking suspicion that planet Kendra isn't a planet after all
but some kind of asteroid hurtling through space on a bizarre elliptical
orbit. That's the only explanation I can come up with for these seemingly
random news letters. Anyway, putting celestial bodies aside, here's some
news...

- Tour Asia
- Tour America
- Influencing Kendra's direction - joining the mailing lists
- Richard M Stallman hits Cambridge CODE conference
- DDMI offer 30% discount to Kendra Participants
- Thanks to IIR for hosting meeting
Talking Kendra
--------------
As you may have guessed we're going through a "tell everyone about
Kendra" phase. This can take many forms:
- Speaking at conferences - We can't be all places at once so if you want
to say a few words about Kendra at an event then please do so. Also, if you
want to do a whole talk then get in touch. We're getting lots of requests
for speakers from conference organisers. For example, Andi Freeman will be
representing Kendra Initiative at Broadband Network Services in May. If you
want a guide on what to say have a look at this presentation:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/documents/200102ContentDeliverySummit.ppt
- Getting Kendra to endorse/publicise relevant events - Even if we can't
physically be at an event a good way to get Kendra publicity is to endorse
an event. We're getting lots of offers for this too. For example, Kendra
endorsed Content Delivery Networks in New York with a logo on their
website. We got several hundred people referred though their site and this
continues. Many thanks to Stardust for this!
- Exchanging links with events/organisations - Need I say more. If you hear
of an event that you think other Kendra Participants would be interested in
then let us know. Also, if you want to put a link on your website you can
use the following logo:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/participate.php#ParticipantLogo
- Registering colleagues on the website - If you think that colleagues
should get more involved in Kendra then why not invite them to register on
the website or offer to do it for them.
Tour Asia
---------
The next few months will find me in Asia. I'll be attending 2 conferences
in Hong Kong: Carriers World Asia Pacific 2001 and Streaming Media Asia
2001. Might try to get some sun in too! For more details on conferences
see:

Tour America
------------
Forming a rough plan to have a spell in America towards the end of the
year. A few conferences look interesting: Streaming Media East 2001 in New
York and Content Delivery Networks in San Jose. But nothing confirmed yet.
About time I made a nuisance of myself over in the US, me thinks!
Influencing Kendra's direction - joining the mailing lists
----------------------------------------------------------
If you want to play a part in influencing where Kendra is going then the
best way to do this is by subscribing to the mailing lists. Yes, the lists
are still there, waiting for you...
To clear up any confusion you are currently getting this email on an
announce list - one way traffic only - from me to you. Now you have the
option to join discussion lists - two way - from any list member to any
other list member. This means people can now talk to each other about
everything they'd rather be doing instead (as long as it's relevant to
Kendra, that is! ;-)
To get on or off the lists please go to:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/network-details.php#MailingLists
If you have forgotten your username or password then go to:

Please see links to the archives here:

And who's on the lists here:

DDMI offer 30% discount to Kendra Participants
----------------------------------------------
There's going to be quite a few Kendra Participants at this event. I'm
looking forward to it! For more details see:

Thanks to IIR for hosting meeting
---------------------------------
Thanks to IIR for hosting the most recent Kendra meeting. It was more of a
discussion and no minutes were taken. The P2P/CDN conferences were very
interesting. Shows how both P2P and CDN worlds are converging (albeit with
a sense of reluctance on both sides ;-). Many new possibilities are going
to be opened up in terms of working practices. I don't think we've even
seen the tip of the iceberg yet...
...fun times ahead! ;-)
Cheers Daniel
