[kNT] Agreement with Westminster Digital on parliamentary live feed...

Hi there All,

Thought it would be good to post the exact wording on the agreement with Westminster Digital on parliamentary live feed. It's important for us all to be aware of the issues that content providers have to deal with so hence we have to deal with when it comes to creating a system that serves their needs. Nothing is totally straightforward in this world of content (so we may as well get used to it now) and so Kendra has to allow for all these different business rules to be encapsulated in the system.

So, here's the wording on the agreement:

------->

Agreement: Use of "The Parliament Channel" 08/01/2001

As owner of "The Parliament Channel" Westminster Digital grants a one-year licence from the date of this agreement to the Kendra Initiative of www.kendra.org.uk for use of this clean live feed for the sole purpose as a not-for-profit test live feed for streaming on the Kendra Network Trial.

"Clean" means no 3rd party advertising.

It is also understood that while Kendra Initiative will use it's best endeavors to uphold copyright, Kendra can accept no responsibility for 3rd-party users who may copy/redistribute the feed.

Any web-pages on the Kendra Initiative website displaying the live feed shall contain a credit to be provided by Westminster Digital.

Note that the Parliamentary content licence to Westminster Digital requires that the feed be distributed through "servers under control of Westminster Digital". By signature of this document, Kendra Initiative confirms that the service will be terminated, should an instruction be received by them from Westminster Digital.

Note: The service is a low bandwidth Real Networks feed. Westminster Digital reserves the right to end this service, or change the format or bandwidth of this feed as it sees fit.

Signed by Philip Haggar for Westminster Digital

Signed by Daniel Harris for Kendra Initiative

Also, after talking to Philip, he suggests we should do our best to discourage "deep linking" to the stream.

Cheers Daniel
