RE: [kGen] Call for speakers: Kendra convergence workshop 22/10...

Hi there Paola and Tiema (and All),

If I may answer your emails together...

Firstly, please do take a look at my post on kFW regarding structure:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/lists/archive/k-framework/msg00001.html
and, if you're up for discussing it, please do reply to kFW - but remember you may have to join the list first. I was basically taking minutes from a small gathering a good few months ago. Please let me know if this is the kind of things you are interested in hearing about.

I know structure is key to taking Kendra forward. Also, key is having the people to fill that structure and work within it and be able to modify it and make it theirs. Although people like to have structure to fit into they also like to have responsibility. To feel of worth. In a sense, to emotionally own their part of the project.

That goes for organisations too. We must be careful not to build Kendra too quickly and leave organisations out of the picture. We must encourage people and organisations to play their part with building Kendra.

In my experience (of creative environments rather than factory floors) the best way for structure to be created is to provide clear goals and targets and let people get on with the job. They will build the necessary structure. One needs to make sure that structure and procedures are documented and available for all to see and comment on. Being open is key here.

My tasks continue to be defining and clarifying Kendra's goals and seeking people to take responsibility for achieving those goals. Both tasks are not carried out in isolation but are the constant interaction between us. We're build now, right now.

Cheers Daniel
