Re: [kGen] RE: Venue
Hi there Donal and All,
Any news on the venue for 22/10? Tempus fugit...
We now have 22 people that have registered to attend the meeting and they
don't even know where it's going to be! Are they eager or what? You can see
them all listed at:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/participate.php#meeting-participants
And we have just under a month to go! And there are 3 conferences between
now and then!
Everyone: Please take the time to list yourself as attending the meeting if
you plan to be there. I am not maintaining the list so please don't ask me
to do it. It's not that much of an effort and the benefits are huge: it
shows that you're attending, it adds to numbers and the more we are the
more it encourages other people to come along too. Register for meeting at:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/profile.php#meetings
Also, if you can think of people or mailing lists that should get an invite
to the meeting then please send them one. Feel free to use the following
text (modify as you desire to fit audience):

Dear Person/List,
It's time for yet another Kendra Initiative meeting. The forth in fact. It
will be held in London on 22/10/2001. Venue to be announced shortly by
sponsors, BlueArc. See:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/meetings/20011022invite.php
for how to register.
Please note that this is the day before Streaming Media Europe 2001
(23-25/10/2001 - London) so if you are planning to attend that event why
not turn up in London a day before and catch the Kendra meeting too?
Why should you come along and what is Kendra anyway?...
Kendra Initiative, an independent non-profit organisation, has been
established to research and build an open architecture system that will
provide the entertainment/content industry with a platform for content
distribution and delivery over the Internet and facilitating revenue
generation for content owners/aggregators and service providers.
Broadband Internet access is increasing the appetite for high quality (high
bandwidth) content. To alleviate net congestion Kendra Initiative is
trialing a global content distribution system with ISPs and CDNs. By
providing reliable, fast and easy to use systems Kendra Initiative aims to
offer attractive alternatives for users currently copying/exchanging content.
By bringing together content creators/owners and specialists from industry
and academia Kendra Initiative is constructing a framework that will enable
all organisations and individuals in the content distribution industry to
exchange ideas and create this system, the Kendra system. Join us!
