Here's the deal: if 5 or more people on this list reply to this email
(on list) saying that they will use the pledge system to "pledge
greater than 10.00 GBP" towards the 100K GBP target then I will pledge
1K GBP and I'll also build the system to be ready for use on or before
July 4th 2005. Note you don't have to say how much you actually will
pledge at this stage - just say you'll use it. Look forward to it...

Desiree Miloshevic told me about http://www.pledgebank.com : Tell the
world "I'll do it, but only if you’ll help me do it". Pretty good
idea. Then, in discussion with Neil Harris, thought about doing a
similar thing for Kendra.
Kendra Base is almost finished to the current phase - I'm really
impressed by what we've achieved. To date I've donated over 15K GBP to
Kendra - most of which has gone on development - there are outstanding
costs that will take that amount to around 20K pretty soon:
Now we need to raise large funds for the next phase of Kendra Base
development and maintaining and promoting Kendra Initiative. There is
also a big possibility of getting match funds from the DTI.
So, I'm proposing that we set a target of 100K GBP. And we'll ask
everyone to make a pledge which, when we hit the target, we'll ask is
turned into cash for Kendra. Now, with the possible matching funds
that will turn into 200K GBP. So, we are effectively saying to
participants: buy 100K (potentially 200K) of stunning research with
you x GBP pledge.
This could be the softly, softly approach that we need to get things
off the ground. If we could show there is support for Kendra then more
people would support it.
I've set up a wiki page here:
I could implement this very easily using the current website. We could
add a section into the Profile page for pledges. What do you think? Is
it a goer?
