Re: [kFW] Re: Request for comments: Incorporating Kendra Foundation...

Hi there David,

Many thanks for your comments. Yes, everyone is going to have to trust me to do the right thing. But, I guess, people have trusted me up till now to some degree. I hope that by my being open and explaining what I am doing at every stage that people will shout as soon as they see things going in an undesired direction.

Also, the whole point about Kendra Foundation is to build tools that enable people to be more involved in the collaborative design process of making Kendra System.

Kendra has only got to where it is because people have supported it and made it theirs. If none of the 400 odd people were listing them selves nor any of the 20 odd ISPs/CDNs were participating in the network trial then Kendra would be nowhere near as impressive as it is.

In terms of not allowing Kendra Foundation to make income from sales many people have commented on this and said do I really want to do it that way. If it doesn't get any funding or support in kind then that means that people don't want to bring Kendra System to reality. If they don't want it then fine. I'll go do some painting on a hill somewhere! ;-) But the fact is that people do want it and what is more the industry is heading that way at full speed. Have you read up on MPEG-21 recently? Very interesting/impressive/inspiring... We're on the right track!...

Another reason for not wanting to get income from sales is that Kendra Foundation has to keep focus. Kendra Foundation's role is not to make money but to support Kendra Initiative.

Also, if there was money to be made directly from usage of the Kendra System then all Kendra Participants would want a slice, and quite rightly so, as without their effort there would be nothing to make money from. This is analogous to TCP/IP in that we are not charged to speak the language but service providers charge for their services built on top of TCP/IP. I we charged a usage fee to speak the Kendra language it has much less chance of getting off the ground.

Also, right now I am selling for the sake of an idea/vision. I want to keep it that way. I did a good 6 six years of Cerbernet and have come to the conclusion that if you have a company which has a role to make money then that's what it does and everything else is secondary. And all the employees and directors focus on that one task, which is fine if the goal's to make money. I am not going to allow Kendra Foundation to loose its focus of supporting Kendra Initiative.

Taking your points: On Arts.33, yeh, a director should be able to be anywhere as long as you can communicate with them by some practical method. For Arts.40-42, yeh again, we need email notices to be valid.

Cheers Daniel
