Well Steve,

You may not be far off the mark when you say "Daniel with a new name". Let 
me explain... Since I started Kendra Initiative back in mid-2000 I've had 
very welcome support from various individuals and organisations. However, 
this support has been transitory with me keeping the project going in 
between and making sure we have a website and mailing lists, organising 
meetings and speaking at conferences. Don't get me wrong, I'm doing this 
because it's fun, I'm learning lots and I want to see the Kendra system 
built. And I don't in any way begrudge people/organisations not sticking at 
it - there are commercial pressures out in the real world.

However, right now I'm not being supported financially by my work on Kendra 
Initiative. Also, one of the most difficult things for moving things 
forward is lack of website development. So, the stuff that I've been doing 
(marketing, speaking, administration, etc) and the favours that I've been 
pulling (coding, website hosting, etc) need to get paid for from now on. 
I've done the "let's all come together and try and make this work" and it 
doesn't work. People are basically not interested in the boring stuff of 
administration, etc. Because they and their organisations have things to 
do. And that's absolutely fair enough.

Given the collaborative design tools and additional trials that we've been 
discussing I have no doubts that people will come running to participate in 
the funky stuff to build the Kendra system. But we need a solid foundation 
to support that funky stuff and I've now had enough of trying to do it on 
the cheap. It's time to get serious. I'm not going to let Kendra drop. It's 
too much fun for that. So, essentially, I see no change here. Just a 
formalisation of what's going on now. And the ability for me to carry out 
my role far, far better and for Kendra Initiative to get the support it 
deserves.
