Why not just install PostNuke? You can keep everyone up to date with
developments easily (no matter where you are in the world), plenty of
themes available so you don't have to worry about design, comes with
forums which you can mark as moderated so you can prevent a 'hostile'
environment and also guard threads, has a FTP-like upload/download
module for resources people want to share, and can be installed and up
and running in an afternoon.

It can also enhance the functionality of your current site, as it
already has modules for the FAQ, calendar and search. If you use the
less secure but more popular phpNuke then it also has a Wiki module.

There are already modules for MP3 and Internet radio streaming. You
could probably plaguarise one of these to adapt it to the network trial
section?
