[kDev] New server soon, boat meeting, coding party and much, much more...

Hi there All,

It's been a wee bit quiet on kDev of late but I just wanted to tell you that's all going to change... so run while you can... ;-)

- Meeting? All day? On Monday 22/10? On a boat? Yes it is!
- New server? Coming? SSH access? Yes it is!
- Coding party? Cola? Pizza? Yes it is!
- Much, much more? Can take? Well... not so sure actually!

Meeting? All day? On Monday 22/10? On a boat? Yes it is!
--------------------------------------------------------

If you're on kGen you'll know already but it would be good to have a developer gathering as part of the Kendra meeting. It's your agenda too. If you're thinking of coming along please do register so...

New server? Coming? SSH access? Yes it is!
------------------------------------------

And they called it Kirk. And Kirk was a happy with it's modest Celeron 800 MHz, 256 Mbyte RAM and 40 Gbyte IDE. So, Justin, I and a few others have finally got a server for our websites and getting Kendra on there is my priority. And we'll have full access with SSH so coding and bringing people into the project should now become a much easier task. Phew! Which leads me to...

Coding party? Cola? Pizza? Yes it is!
-------------------------------------

Once we have Kirk (Justin's name for it, not mine) up and running there's lots to do. Without going into detail there's updating the website with more automation (so I have less donkey work to do) and getting kNT up and running with the live trial (remember that old chestnut?!). You can see more about website automation ideas here:
http://www.kendra.org.uk/develop-readme.txt
In terms of the live trial Steve's been hampered by lack of time and that's why I think it would be good to all get together and bash it out in one hit.

So, let us know what you think about this. Any other suggestions?...
Coding party: Good idea?
Best venue?: All I've got is my flat in N4. Any other places?
Best food and drink?: Name it!
Best time?: Weekend? Weekday?
Best date?: After Kirk's up and running and burned in. Early November? Before?
Who?: Open invite for developers...

Key people that have worked on this project so far are:
Andi Freeman - Fronto Media Group - GB
Joe Pietroni - Joe Pietroni - GB
Jon Chambers SysAdmin/Programmer - Oomf! Ltd - GB
Nigel Rantor - Wiggly Worm Enterprises - GB
Paul Sergeant Media Technician (and the rest!) - Westminster Digital - GB
Steve R&D - Definately an Individual - GB

Not on this list but bcc'ed on this email:
Phillip Temple Director of Development - Progressive Publishing - GB
Chris Pitchford - The Gnuws Project - GB
Chris H

Anyone else out there on or off kDev you can think of would be into it?

And you can come and personally harangue me for my sloppy coding habits! ;-)

Much, much more? Can take? Well... not so sure actually!
--------------------------------------------------------

OK, then. I'll stop.

Cheers Daniel
