Kendra Interface Trial
The Kendra Interface Trial (kIT) is a set of trials/demonstrations looking at interfaces and end-user (consumer and service provider) requirements with which to test the Kendra system.Overview
The proposal is to seed development of media players for the Kendra system. What we need is designers (web portal and local running application) to produce examples of future (consumer) media players. These are essentially mock ups of working systems but should be as close to finished systems as possible. The aim is to show what options the consumer has in searching for, paying for and playing/viewing their content.
Branding
The media players should not be branded as Kendra players but should have their own destinctive branding and player names just as Napster, iTunes, RealOne, etc... And they should look good, real good!
However, all players should have a very small "K in a circle logo" tucked away somewhere that will link to the website.
Functionality
The backend system (the Kendra system) has not yet been specified and so fully functioning consumer media players are not possible right now but that is not the aim here. So, emphasis should be made on local functionality, such as buttons for searching, payment.
How do the consumers want their future players? It's not about what the rest of the industry wants them to have, perhaps. How easy do they want it? How do they want to search for content? Do they want to search for content? Perhaps they may want to change they way they use their players as their day progresses. How do they want to pay for it? Be inventive!
Please do take a look at: Kendra - An Introduction.
I'm quite happy to come in and talk to students/designers interested in participating on the Kendra Interface Trial.
